Litecoin price rallies after Charlie Lee's announcement

Litecoin price rallied sharply after the announcement by Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin, that he is stepping down as the director of development for the cryptocurrency.

Litecoin price surged by more than 5% in the past 24 hours, reaching as high as $175.06 on the Bitfinex exchange.

Lee said in a blog post that he plans to focus on his other projects, including developing Litecoin Cash and working on scaling solutions for Litecoin.

The move comes after Litecoin suffered a sharp decline in value earlier this year, due to concerns about the scalability of its blockchain.

However, some analysts believe that Litecoin's popularity among online merchants could help it regain its status as the leading cryptocurrency.
